Long - Doc - 80 min

Sekhedese - Mulheres Indígenas is structured around testimonials recorded between 2018 and 2019 during two expeditions we made to indigenous villages in Pernambuco. Seekhdese means wisdom, in Yathê, the only indigenous language still spoken in the Northeast. Wisdom that is evident in the reports of 46 women, of different ages and ethnicities, who compose portraits of indigenous women and their relationships with the preservation of culture and the constant struggles for land repossession. In the testimonies, we have important reflections on ethnocide in indigenous communities invested by neo-Pentecostal churches and strongly opposed by local leaders. The film brings reflections on the set of indigenous values to be preserved at this moment in the country. In this web of recorded reports, we have important records about the symbolic value of the land, the threats to the native peoples and unique reflections to the indigenous people about the understanding of homosexuality and the female protagonism.
